Common Names: Madagascan Sunset Moth
Day flying moth. Very colourful, though the iridescent parts of the wings do not have pigment; rather the colours originate from optical interference. Adult moths have wingspan 7-9cm.
Taken from the butterfly genus and placed in the moth genus in 1823.
Much sought after by collectors. One of the most beautiful Lepidoptera.
